Can’t access certain communities on Discord as they say you don't meet the age requirement? If you made a mistake entering your birthday while creating your account, you can request Discord to change your age. It’s an easy process on your end, and we’ll show you how to do that.

Request Discord to Change Your Birthday

Unlike many other apps, Discord doesn’t allow you to change your age from its web, desktop, or mobile app. You have to send the platform a request with a valid identity card to change your birthday in your account.

First, you have to take a photo of yourself with the documents proving your identity and your Discord account. To do that, on a piece of paper, write your full Discord tag (including, if you haven't updated to the new username scheme, the four digits after your username). Then, hold this paper and a valid identity card in your hands and take your photo.

Once you have a clear photo ready, launch a web browser on your device and open the Discord Support site. On this site, you’ll see a form to fill in. Here, enter the following details:

  • What can we help you with?: select "Appeals & Age Update Requests."
  • Your email address: enter the email address associated with your Discord account.
  • Are you in the right place?: tick-mark the box.
  • How can we help?: select "Update My Age Information."
  • Phone number: optionally, enter your phone number.
  • Your date of birth: enter your actual date of birth, then beneath this field, enable the checkbox.
  • Subject: type a subject for your message. This can be something like “I’d like to update the age in my Discord account.”
  • Description: explain why you want to update your birthdate in your account. Maybe you made a mistake entering your birthdate while creating the account?
  • Attachments: attach the photo that shows your ID card, your full Discord tag, and yourself.

After filling out the form, at the bottom of the form, click "Submit."

Your age update request is now sent to Discord. The company will review your submitted details, and if everything looks good, they’ll update the age in your account.

What Is Discord's Age Requirement?

When it comes to using Discord, you must be of a certain age to be able to use the platform. In most countries, including the USA, the UK, Canada, and Australia, you must be at least 13 years old to use Discord. If you live in another country, check out Discord’s age requirements page to find relevant information for your region.

Even if you’re 13 years old, you can’t access certain communities on Discord. This is because these communities are marked as NSFW (Not Safe for Work), and you must be at least 18 years old to be able to access these communities.

With a valid identity card proving your real age, you shouldn’t have issues getting your age corrected in your Discord account. And once that’s done, you’ll have access to all the items that Discord deems suitable for you on the platform. Enjoy!
